83 Movie Release Live Update
'Ranveer Singh deserves every prize on the globe,' says an 83 movie release live update.
Critics are praising Ranveer for his portrayal of Kapil Dev in the film based on India's success in the 1983 World Cup, which opens today to good reviews.
Kabir Khan's labour of love, 83, is finally out in theatres today, after protracted delays and a pandemic. The film, which dramatises India's legendary World Cup victory in 1983, has been receiving favourable reviews ahead of its release, with praise for the film's beats as well as Ranveer Singh's pitch-perfect portrayal of Team India leader Kapil Dev. In 83, Ranveer's real-life wife, star Deepika Padukone, who also produced the film, plays his on-screen wife, Romi Dev.
Deepika's immediate response after viewing 83 was reported by Kabir Khan before. Deepika was overwhelmed, according to Kabir. "She couldn't speak, she was choking up," he claimed.
Members of the 83 crew were enthusiastic in their praise of the film, not just critics and their Bollywood peers. "I saw the movie for the first time," Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary batsman, told Indian Express.
Shubhra Gupta, a film critic, gave the picture a 3.5-star rating. "Kabir Khan's '83 recreates that day with fidelity, and, yes, let it be told, in full Bollywood style, drenched with song, dance, drama, and colour," she wrote in her review.
In this faithful reconstruction of India's 1983 World Cup victory, Ranveer Singh disappears inside his Kapil Dev, while each of Kapil's Devils is given their own time."
